"Do a Barrel Roll! (Z or R Twice)." ~Peppy Hare (Star Fox 64)

Do a Barrel Roll is a famous line first said by Peppy Hare during the Lylat Wars when he asked Fox to perform the maneuver to deflect lasers from oncoming enemy fire. It was overall said three times on Corneria, Meteo, and Aquas. It was mentioned a fourth time in explanation when driving the Landmaster on Titania. The maneuver of the Barrel Roll is a defense against enemy laser fire, as explained in some of the Star Fox comics it was mentioned that the G-Diffusers give off energy producing a temporary barrier that deflects laser fire.

In the 2002 Star Fox Comic in a dogfight between Fox McCloud and Falco Lombari, Falco states that the Arwing is open for an attack when the Arwing has finished performing a barrel roll. In Star Fox Assault the term, "Barrel Roll" is now called the "rolling maneuver" or simply "rolling" stated in the game manual and mention by Peppy on Meteo.
