Andross was a former Cornerian Army scientist. After conducting several experiments that threatened the very life of the Lylat System, General Pepper banished the "mad scientist" to the planet Venom, where he began amassing a resistance movement called "The Venomian Army." He is the primary cause of the Lylat Wars and the mastermind behind the Saurian Incident. He is also the uncle of both Andrew Oikonny and Dash Bowman.
Andross was a renowned scientist for the discovery of the many mysteries of the Lylat System. Many of his discoveries had led him to finding proof that life can thrive in even the most harsh of temperatures such as the Gores on the planet Solar. Later on, he had dedicated his finding working with the Cornerian Army using his studies in creating a weapon. It was then he gave birth in creating the bio-weapons, biological creatures infused to be used as weapons. However, in creating the bio-weapons, he had no control over them and nearly caused the entire destruction of the Lylat System. For his punishment, he was exiled to the planet Venom where he was forced to stay for the remainder of his life. Andross ambition for science had left him corrupted, obsessed that Corneria was wrong and that his ideas were an evolution to society; he turned his back on them and began his dream of absolute control over the Lylat System. As he continued his life on Venom, he formed a relationship with the Venomian race and became their emperor. As his army grew, Corneria kept a close watch monitoring their activity. After five years of living on the barren planet, Andross had continued working on experiments on both him and through parts of the Lylat's planets. It was enough where General Pepper sent down the former Star Fox Team lead by James McCloud to investigate Andross' activity. However, when the Star Fox team got there, they were betrayed by their partner, Pigma Dengar, who made a deal with Andross to turn in the Star Fox Team to them. Andross ordered his army to shoot down James McCloud and Peppy Hare, and capture them. However, Andross' attempt to capture the Star Fox was foiled as Peppy Hare barely escaped Venom's surface with his life. James McCloud sacrificed himself to save Peppy's life.
His permanent death after the Saurian incident, new information of Andross' life as a scientist resurfaced when messages were found implanted in the area of Titania. During Andross' life, he had made a device to counter the the effects of the acidic elements in the Venomian oceans in hoping life can colonize once again. His messages he implanted in the enemies left on Titania were intimidating, making people believe that he is the ghost of Andross.
Andross was a scientist who dreamed of using his ideas to benefit Corneria. But his incidents in the creation of bio weapons were the reason for his downfall; he was promplty discredited and held responsible. Non-canon information about Andross in the 1992 Star Fox comic stated that he was also in a jealous relationship with James McCloud's wife "Vixy Reinard". He attempted to kill her husband by planting a car bomb in his car so he would get close to her, but his plan foiled when Vixy got in the car, killing her insead. The incident left a deep scar in Andross's concience as shown in the ending when his good clone confessed his evil deeds while invading Papetoon. |
