| Corneria is the fourth planet of the Lylat System. It is the seat of power of the main governing body of the Lylat System, known as the Cornerian Army. It is home to the main body of the Lylat System's inhabitants, holding 85% of the system's life. It has also been able to maintain symbiosis between urban construction and nature.
The planet Corneria is, in and of itself, a symbiotic world. While the majority of the urban population lives in the valleys of large mountains and, as refuge during invasions, in the caves formed by the planet's core, farming is performed higher up the mountains, thus leaving much of the land open for nature to thrive. Also, it has become the center of culture bodies for the Lylat System. Due to all of these elements, it has been dubbed because of this the "Jewel of the Lylat System." Corneria usually takes a peaceful stance in politics, but this has stopped no one from invading it. In fact, many times, Corneria is a key invasion site for aggressors in the Lylat System, dating back to the Lylat Wars. During the Lylat Wars, Andross' Venomian Army launched a massive offensive on Corneria to spark the war. During the attack, General Pepper called upon the Star Fox Team, now headed by Fox McCloud, to repel the invaders. While traversing the planet, they counterattacked Corneria City, which was under heavy siege by the Venomian Army. They managed to soften up the attackers enough for the army to finally repel them as the team went further across the surface. They then encountered the Attack Carrier and the Granga, both of which they destroyed. Corneria was not a key site during the Saurian Incident, because the majority of the campaign was on Sauria and no-where else. Once again, Corneria took center stage during the Aparoid Invasion. While using an attack on Sauria to draw Star Fox's attention away, an extremely large invasion force attacked Corneria City en masse. The Cornerians, caught off guard, were overwhelmed and evacuated the city. After the attack on Sauria was repelled, Star Fox was called to counter the Aparoid offensive. While Falco, Slippy, and Krystal stayed in Arwings, Fox went on foot around the city, destroying living RADAR jammers infesting the city's skies. Once all the jammers were destroyed, Peppy transferred an Arwing to him on the roof of the Persimmions Building. This played directly into an Aparoid trap, as they destroyed the Arwing and surrounded Fox, catching him off-guard. However, just as they were about to kill him, Star Wolf Team appeared. Wolf strafed the roof, destroying the Aparoids there. Fox thought this was an attempt to kill him, and as a reflex he jumped off the roof. Beginning to plummet to his death, he was saved at the last second by Wolf, who piloted his Wolfen down to street level to catch him on his wing. Fox proceeded to use a Plasma Cannon to attack air-borne targets attempting to attack Wolf's Wolfen. While this was going on, General Pepper in his flagship were speeding towards the battle. However, both he and the ship were infected by the Aparoids, and proceeded to attack Fox and Wolf. Reluctantly, Fox attacked and defeated his old friend, destroying the Aparoids controlling him and his ship, sending him plummeting to the city streets below to his death. Out of no-where, however, Peppy flew in in an Arwing and flew underneath the falling flagship, guiding it down to the surface. Both of them hit in a violent explosion, but General Pepper and Peppy escaped with minor injuries. It was also the network of Zypher Ring Orbital Gates that allowed the Cornerian Defense Force remnants to counterattack the Aparoid Homeworld. Upon realizing this, the Aparoids attacked the main gate, where a group of scientists were working on an Apoptosis virus strand designed to destroy the Aparoid Queen. This attack, despite the use of high-powered bio-missiles, failed, and the attack force was able to reach the homeworld. Years later, the Anglar Directorate invaded Corneria once again. Although at this time Team Star Fox had split up, Fox McCloud went to aid the defense and was able to contact Slippy Toad to help him. Together, they defeated the invasion, and then proceeded to continue reforming Team Star Fox.
Naturally, Cornerians are the inhabitants of Corneria. This makes up 85% of the Lylat System's population. Most of them live within the urban areas in the mountain valleys, while some are able to make a living farming in the mountains. Many of them are employed in the Cornerian Defense Force, protecting their homeworld.
