James McCloud (formally known as Fox McCloud Sr.), was a legendary pilot of the Cornerian Army before the Lylat Wars. He was also the founder of the elite mercenary force Team Star Fox. During Star Fox's infancy, James McCloud was killed in action, leaving his son Fox McCloud to inherit what his father started.

Biography

Pre-Lylat Wars

Prior Lylat wars James McCloud met Vixy Reinard. They later on had a son, named Fox McCloud. However, she had died early on in Fox's life, so James was left to care for Fox by himself. Later on, he worked with his close friends Pigma Dengar and Peppy Hare to form the initial Star Fox Team.

Lylat Wars

James and the current Star Fox Team were dispatched by the Cornerian Army to the planet Venom to investigate. When they arrived, however, Pigma Dengar betrayed James and Peppy. He ended up capturing them for a large reward from Andross. While Peppy managed to escape, James was not so lucky, and was never heard from again. He was presumed to be killed.

However, after the new Team Star Fox lead by Fox and consisting of Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, and Slippy Toad had invaded Venom and after Fox had defeated Andross, he attempted to self-destruct the Venomian base in a last ditch effort to kill Fox. James, in an Arwing, lead Fox through the pathways with the flames burning up behind them. He disappeared once Fox made it out of the paths as well, much to Fox's dismay.

Aparoid Invasion

During the battle between Team Star Fox, the Aparoid Queen mimiced James several times to confuse Fox. However, this did not work, and Fox ended up defeating her.
