Lylat Wars

Landmaster (64)
Landmaster during Lylat Wars
The Landmaster was used twice during the Lylat Wars. After Slippy had been hit down to the surface of Titania by the Spyborg, the rest of the Star Fox Team attempted to go and locate him. Fox was unable to pilot Arwings on the surface, however, due to the dust storms and magnetic storms. He instead relied on the Landmaster. During the search, the team came across a Venomian Army scout fleet; Fox and the rest of the team subsequently attacked it and decimated it. Fox soon then found Slippy in the clutches of a Gora and was forced to use the Landmaster to kill the Gora and free Slippy.

Fox was again forced to use the Landmaster to keep up with a supply train carrying a robot known as "Mechbeth" on Macbeth. He also used the Landmaster's lasers to throw the switches and reset the points of the railline, sending Mechbeth to its doom blowing up the supply depot.

Aparoid Invasion

The Landmaster, now upgraded from the payment from the previous Sauria job, was used more heavily during the Aparoid Invasion, counted four times. On Katina, Fox used one to destroy a large Aparoid force with Aparoid Hatchers and the subsequent commander. He also needed one to destroy the power cores of the shield generators powering the Fichina Climate Control Center shield. On Sauria, he used it to help beat through some Aparoids and destroy Aparoid Hatchers in a bid to save the planet. It was used a final time to aid the final assault on the Aparoid Homeworld.

Appearences

During the Lylat Wars, the Landmaster Tank was still a prototype that Space Dynamics Corporation, Limited was attempting to develop into an armored exploration vehicle. However, Team Star Fox bought the prototype for need of a ground assault vehicle. The team then modified its armor plating, thickening it, and upgraded the weapons systems into stronger main weapons. The Landmaster was then, as the Lylat System knows it, born. It was armed with T&B-J2 lasers similar to that of an Arwing, but with lowered power output, thus making a weaker laser. The onboard targetting still allowed a charged shot to track targets. The team also outfitted the tank with a Smart Bomb Launcher, making it even more similar to the Arwing. The Smart Bombs retained the power of their airborne counterpart.

Post Saurian Incident, the Landmaster got a severe overhaul. The tank treads were replaced by large wheels, making the vehicle resemble an ATV. The laser power was also upgraded considerably, making the power output extremely stronger than that of an Arwing. This made the fire-rate suffer, however, due to the increased output. It still can charge-shot. The Smart Bomb Launcher was also removed, most likely due to redundancy from the now more-powerful lasers.
