The Lieutenants are Andross's Henchmen during the Lylat Wars period as mentioned in "The Official Star Fox 64 Strategy Guide". These are usually the toughest bosses at the end of each level before your route to the next level. Some of them are stronger than others as you progress through the game and each have their weakness which sometimes need Peppy to hint you on weak points. Lieutenants are the most powerful and intelligent of his followers, that have been assigned in there specialty various war machines of great power. Andross has sent these lieutenants to seize strategic locations throughout the Lylat system. The machines they control come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are always accompanied by fleets of Venomian craft. The Star Fox team will face a different lieutenant at the end of each mission. Some mission paths will lead to encounters with different lieutenants.

List of Lieutenants:

Granga

"Grenga" (Corneria) - The first Lieutenant you encounter taking the normal route on Corneria. His main attack are shooting missiles from its arms, which are very easy to shoot off. His weak point is the power pack from his back. If he moves to much to where you cant get a good shot, go for the legs to immobilize him.

"Attack Carrier" (Corneria) - The Second Lieutenant on the Corneria level that you can only get to if you pass through the secret passage through the waterfall. His main attack is shooting fighters and missiles at you from its sides. He is open for an attack when the hatches open as the Attack Carrier launches baddies.

"Shogun" (Sector Y) - One of the fastest moving Lieutenants in the game, be advised of his attack patterns as as the mech can weave through lazer fire in one instance and charge in front causing damage from his mech kicks. He most of the time open to an attack at far distances or when he is stationed on top of the enemy Carrier. His sheild can also be blown off to open up some venerable points.

"Meteo Crusher" (Meteo) - The Lieutenant you encounter at the end of Meteo is a bit stronger than Granga or the Attack Carrier. His weak points are the open spots from the front and back which are blocked from a shield that absorbs laser fire. Use perfect timing and waiting for the exposed areas.

"Spyborg" (Sector X) - Throughout the level, parts of this boss are floating throughout the area as debris. At the end the boss assembles itself not being too sure of its own purpose asking for the "Creator". It's weakness is the head, the boss will play possum for a moment until the robot boots itself again attacking you with a barrage of melee attacks and metal sheets thrown at you.

"Sarumarine" (Zoness) - A unique Lieutenant that is impervious to laser fire, his only weakness is bombs which can destroy the tough armor on his arms and exhaust ports.
