| Pigma Dengar was a former member of both the Star Fox and Star Wolf teams. While a member of Star Fox, he betrayed the team for payment from Andross, leading to the death of James McCloud. He then flew for Star Wolf during the Lylat Wars. During the Aparoid Invasion, he proved to be a nuisance to Star Fox: he stole an Aparoid Core Memory under pretenses it was worth a lot of money and forced Star Fox to track him across various locations. They soon found him now assimilated into the Aparoids and were forced to destroy him. He would then come back during the Anglar Directorate Invasion.
However, Pigma's greed never went away and would prove to be the team's undoing. General Pepper hired them to investigate unknown activity eminating from the planet Venom. Once the team arrived at the planet, Pigma turned on his comrades. They were soon captured and he received his payment. However, Peppy managed to escape and limp his damaged Arwing back Corneria.
On Fichina, the Venomian Army had commandeered the Cornerian base located there. Star Fox was dispatched to reclaim it; in an attempt to prevent that from happening, the Venomians planted a bomb at the base to destroy it. Fox McCloud made an attempt to go in and stop the explosion, but before he could get to the base, Star Wolf appeared. Their goal was to distract Star Fox so they could not disarm the bomb. Pigma, seeing his old former friend alive after 5 years, immediately began firing at Peppy. Much like the rest of his teammates, however, Pigma was shot down and the bomb was soon disarmed. All the pilots managed to escape. Star Fox would come across them again while attacking the Bolse Space Station. This time, Star Wolf was tasked with defending the station. Pigma, once again, tailed Peppy Hare; once again, all the team was shot down. They all escaped again, and Bolse soon after was destroyed. Pigma would be seen a final time before Fox McCloud could reach Andross for his final battle with the mad scientist. Using upgraded Wolfen IIs, which were able to outperform the Arwings in almost every aspect, they blitzed Star Fox outside the planetary core tunnel enterance. Despite the tactical advantage with the better starfighters (mentioned by Pigma several times in the fight), Star Wolf was shot down for a third and final time. Again, they all managed to escape before Andross was finally destroyed.
Pigma was trapped at the Katina Outpost during the early days of the Aparoid Invasion. He launched a distress signal, which was picked up by the Cornerian Army. Pepper then tasked Star Fox, now with Krystal taking Peppy's flying position, to find the signal. After a large ground battle destroying an Aparoid assault on the outpost, Pigma stopped transmitting the signal and made his escape in his personal ship. On his way out, he stole the Core Memory from the Aparoid Commander. Since Fox reacted badly to him taking it, he assumed it was worth a lot of money and flew off with it. Fox Immediately gathered up his team and began trailing Pigma. Pigma lead the team to the Sargasso Space Region and its criminal hideout. Star Fox arrived at the hideout after Pigma left, however. After Fox told a ruffian who he was and who he came for, the ruffian gathered up the hideout's defenses and attacked the team. Fox and Slippy went on-foot inside the base while Falco and Krystal stayed outside to combat incoming space defenses. Upon taking control of the hideout, Team Star Wolf (without Pigma) counterattacked. They were defeated and Panther Caroso, who was attempting to flirt with Krystal, betrayed Pigma's location from the communications log: Fichina. Team Star Fox then headed there. Upon arrival, Star Fox noticed the Climate Control Center had been deactivated. Krystal suggested it was Pigma's work, but upon disarming the shield and arriving in the C.C.C, Fox discovered who really shut it down: the Aparoids. Even then, though, the full truth was not known until Pigma showed himself. Pigma masterminded the whole scenario and was attempting to control the Aparoids controlling the center. In a bid to allow himself to escape, Pigma seemingly awoke an Aparoid Launcher, which broke off a piece of the vital equipment of the Climate Control Center, which set its core to overload. Fox received an Arwing and destroyed the launcher, preventing the core overload from destroying the facility. Pigma got away clean once again. All was not well with the hog, however. Inside the cockpit of his ship, Pigma, unsuccessfully, attempted to fight off Aparoid influence over him. He continued on into the Meteo Asteroid Field. Star Fox soon tracked and lost Pigma's signal within the field. In a bid to locate the hog, the team took to their Arwings and navigated through the field, fighitng off Aparoid assaults and fighting through abandoned, Aparoid-controlled space stations. They soon came across Pigma.
Katt Monroe soon contacted the ailing bird with a proposition: she would help him form his own mercenary team called "Star Falco." Dash Bowman joined as well and Star Falco soon rivaled Star Fox. (It is unclear if this is true or not, as Star Fox Command has no defined ending.) |
