Sector X is a region of space dominated by a large nebula in the shape of an "X," roughly. Scientists are unsure how the nebula formed the way is did, however they are certain that it is not a natural formation. Out of the three nebulae, it has the most magnetic fluctuations, which can wreak havoc on shipboard computers. It is in a triangular formation with its sister nebulae, Sector Y and Sector Z, leading to a variety of theories about certain areas of the Lylat System.

History

Pre-Lylat Wars

An unknown time before the start of the Lylat Wars, space dust particles came together and formed the cloud of gas that became known tentatively as "Sector X." Scientists soon began examining what caused the nebula but no conclusion was ever reached. However, they can be certain that it was not a natural formation due to its shape versus other neblua. This assumption was also drawn for Sectors Y and Z.

Out of all the nebulae, the largest amount of magnetic flux radiated from Sector X. This would prove to be a problem later on when ships attempted to travel through the area as it messed up the ship computers. Soon, travel to Sector X was severely limited by the government of Corneria.

It has also been suggested by scientists that the triangular formation of the three letter-shaped sectors caused Solar to remain a genesis planet and form the 2 relatively unknown locations known as the "Warp Zones."

Lylat Wars

Andross used Sector X and its standing limited travel decree to hide one of his superweapons, the HVC-09 "Spyborg," and a series of space stations. However, most likely due to the mag flux coming from the sector's nebula cloud, the Spyborg partly destroyed the space station complex, and soon the Venomian Army was forced abandoned it and the Spyborg. However, the automated defenses were left intact.

Team Star Fox, while en-route to Venom, heard reports of a Venomian Army base floating in Sector X. When they went to investigate, they found the partly annihilated and abandoned base and duked it out with the automated defenses. Upon reaching the end of the wrecked base, they located the Spyborg as it proceeded to attack the team. They almost had the superweapon destroyed, but Slippy decided to make a direct assault on the robot. It hit his Arwing and disabled it, knocking Slippy to the surface of Titania. Not wanting to leave Slippy behind, Fox decided to go and rescue him, leaving the Spyborg behind. It is unknown what became of it.

The Angular Directorate

During the Anglar Directorate Invasion, Sector X became a battleground to Star Fox against the Anglar Directorate. Fox and Falco encountered Pigma, the last remnant who was infused with Aparoid technology. Pigma was destroyed in Sector X, seperating his four pieces across the far reaches of the galaxy.
