Sector YThis is a featured page

Sector Y is a region of space dominated by a nebula dust cloud in the rough shape of a "Y." As with her sister regions, scientists are unsure of how the sector formed, but once again it is thought that the formation is not a natural one. Out of the three nebulae, it has the most radiation and magnetic storms, earning it the dubious distinction "The Battleship Graveyard." It is located in a triangular pattern with the other sectors, leading to varieties of theories about certain Lylat System areas.

History

Pre-Lylat Wars

An unknown time before the Lylat Wars, dust particles formed the nebula cloud that later became known as "Sector Y," due to its formation in the rough shape of the letter "Y." Scientists have been unable to determine how exactly it formed, although they are certain it is not natural, similar to the other nebulae.

What is unique about Sector Y is the levels of magnetic current running through the area. Due to the havoc these currents can wreak on computers, Sector Y earned the distinct nickname of "The Battleship Graveyard." This is also complimented by high levels of radiation. They was believed to have been a Bolse Space Station prototype that had a critical nuclear meltdown that induced the radioactive characteristics of the region.

Lylat Wars

The Cornerian Army engaged a fleet of Venomian Army ships in the Sector Y region. The Venomian Army had an advantage over them with the use of large humanoid mech suits. They were destroying the Cornerian fleet rather quickly, leaving their fate nearly sealed.

Team Star Fox, under command of Fox McCloud, intervened and launched a counterattack on the Venomian fleet. Despite their best efforts, Star Fox plowed through their forces, destroying many of the mechs and the armaments of the Dorisby-class Battleships.

The leader of the attack, the Shogun, soon was forced to attack Star Fox directly. The two Shogun Warriors attempted to stop the team; they were promptly destroyed. With the battle almost lost and the lead carrier threatened, the Shogun attacked Star Fox in his personal mech. His best efforts were in vein, though, as he soon fell the same fate as the Shogun Warriors, exploding after his mech suit could no longer sustain any more damage. The Cornerian fleet came through intact and went to aid in the defense of Katina. Star Fox moved on to Aquas.

Aparoid Invasion

Star Fox Team, now with Krystal taking over Peppy's flight seat, tracked Pigma Dengar to the Sargasso Space Region, which was located near Sector Y. They took control of the hideout and defeated Team Star Wolf when they attempted to reclaim it.

While travelling through the Meteo Asteroid Field later on to locate Pigma Dengar once he fled from Fichina, they came across his ship after exiting an Aparoid-controlled space station. They found him infected and assimilated into a giant space station. The ensuing battle took place nearby Sector Y.

Anglar Directorate

While tracking Wolf O'Donnell from Titania, Fox and Falco located him in the vicinity of Sector Y. Pigma Dengar, now in the form of a cube and the sole remnant of the Aparoids in the Lylat System, proceeded to attack them there. After he was defeated finally, General Peppy Hare broadcast a signal that ROB/NUS-64 received. It was a celebratory broadcast, showing the victors against the Anglar Directorate: Team Star Wolf, now with Krystal in their ranks. Fox became extremely saddened by the events; Falco attempted to comfort him to no avail. They soon converted their Arwings and joined the G-Zero Grand Prix.

(It is unknown if these events are considered canon, as Star Fox Command has no defined ending.)
