| Venom is the first planet of the Lylat System. It is a frontier world, and due to its rocky terrain, it has not been fully mapped for the Cornerian government yet. During the Lylat Wars, it was the base of operations for the Venomian Army and during the Anglar Directorate Invasion it was their home base. The planet eminates a greenish glow into space, due to an unknown phenomenon.
Venom has always been a frontier world in the Lylat System. The Cornerian government has no fully mapped out areas of the planet, leaving much of it unknown. This has been said to have been caused by the rocky terrain of the planet. Due to a phenomenon that has not been able to be explained, the planet eminates a sickly green haze. No theories exist to this day. It has also been speculated that, formerly, a tribe of primitive inhabitants, under the direction of Cornerus, lived on the planet. What became of them or where they went, should they have become space-faring, is unknown. The planet has usually been at the forefront of Lylat System conflicts.
After being exiled from Corneria by General Pepper, Andross created his vilanous Venomian Army and proclaimed himself "Emperor of the Lylat System" from Venom itself. The mad scientist began amassing the army, which drew the attention of the Cornerian government. They hired and assigned the Star Fox Team, then lead by James McCloud, to investigate. Pigma Dengar betrayed the team then, and Peppy Hare and James were imprisoned. Peppy managed to escape; James did not. Years later, in a daring move, Andross either took control of or attacked all the remaining world of the Lylat System and launched an assault on Corneria to spark the Lylat Wars. At that time, the Cornerian Army hired the new Star Fox Team, headed by Fox McCloud, to launch a counterstrike. While attacking the Venomian Army-controlled worlds, they slowly progressed further to Venom. Orbiting Venom was a Bolse Satellite; the team overloaded its core and destroyed it before entering the atmosphere by going through the Area 6 Access Corridor. Once in the atmosphere, they fought through the heart of the staging area of the Venomian Army, destroying hundreds of ships while navigating Venom's harsh terrain. Soon, they came across a temple, where they encountered Andross' Golemech. While running down the temple's hallway and activating defenses and traps, Fox McCloud attacked the rock machine and destroyed it. They soon arrived at the enterance to Venom's core. Before able to enter the core, the team crossed paths with the Star Wolf Team, now flying the newer, more advanced Wolfen II. The new ships almost outperformed the more archaic Arwing, but Star Fox overcame the handicap and shot down all the members of Star Wolf once again. Fox then proceeded into the core by himself. With Andross taunting him over the comlinks, he made his way down into the core to face the menace. He then showed his new form: a disembodied hand with remote controlled arms, due in part to the biological experiment he performed on himself. Fox then defeated the disembodied head, and Andross, in a ball of fire and explosions, showed his true form: an abnormally large brain with two eyeballs. Fox fought the brain and defeated it, killing Andross slowly. But, in a last ditch effort to kill Fox with him, he set the base to self-destruct in a large explosion. It nearly killed Fox, had it not been for the timely intervention of his father, who lead him through the maze of tunnels back to the surface. He disappeared shortly afterward, thus leading Fox to believe he was a phantom. The team then returned to Corneria shortly afterward.
Venom was not a key site in any Lylatian conflict until the Anglar Directorate Invasion. The Cornerians were able to terraform the planet, allowing life to thrive and brought the temperature up to sustain life. However, the seas that were now in place were toxic. This allowed a new life form, known as the Anglar, to thrive. They soon were able to leave the seas and make a push on the Lylat System. In the beginning, they were successful, but the reorganization of Team Star Fox was able to drive the Anglar Directorate back and defeat the Emperor in the Venomian seas.
The formed seas of Venom are inhabited by a race of fish people known as the Anglar. They are able to walk upright, much like the Cornerians, and they are space-faring.
