Panther Caroso

Panther Caroso is the the fifth member of the mercenary team, Star Wolf. Replacing Pigma Dengar and Andrew Oikonny after the events of the Lylat Wars, Panther exudes as a formidable pilot. He is known for being a ladies man, having healthy interest in the opposite sex he's often caught flirting or flattering with women. It is unknown whether his interest in Krystal shows a weakness, his symbolic rose with thorns shows that anyone who opposes him meat death.

The Aparoid Invasion

When Panther had his first encounter with Star Fox on Sargasso during the Aparoid invasion, he was dumbstruck over the beauty of Krystal, giving them com records of Pigma's last whereabouts near Fichina. When Star Wolf was attacked by the Aparoids on Meteo, they aided Star Fox in the final front campaign in their effort in destroying the Aparoid Queen.

Miyamoto Sticks Up for Star Fox

Around the near end of October Miyamoto sticks up for the Star Fox franchise after feeling disappointed with the lack of interest the Japanese community is treating with the series. He goes on and mentions that he loves Star Fox and is just forgetful about it.Could this mean an indefinite hold with any further projects in the series's future is uncertain. It is clear that the frustration of the latest Star Fox games being more focused in a multi-combat experience instead of the classic on-rail flying shooter game, has put people like Dylan Cuthbert out of range of loosing interest in making the next Star Fox game on the Wii.

The Best For Star Fox? Fans Outcry For New Sequel

After hearing about Dylan Cuthbert not participating in the next sequel for the next Star Fox genre [link], the fate of the next sequel is left in charge of lead developer, Shigeru Miyamoto. When interviewing Cuthbert about the possibility of an upcoming sequel for Star Fox appearing on the Nintendo Wii, he relates to the Wii as more of a Toy, and would be complicated in implementing useful game play with the Wii's remote motion sensor abilities. Though a lot of fans from many Star Fox Forum websites are questioning if a new Star Fox will ever be made on the Wii, the community begs to differ on the Wii remotes ability. With Miyamoto San concentrating on Wii's future titles revealed this past summers E3 expo, chances are a new Star Fox sequel wont be revealed anytime soon. All this leaves in question, will Star Fox skip a console like that of Metroid on the Nintendo 64?

While the debate of Star Fox soaring over the Wii console, there is hope of it spearing in the development of Nintendo's next generation console in development. President of Nintendo Satoru Iwata reconfirmed at this years E3 that the company reconfirmed of the development of a new Nintendo console in the process of development [link]. He mentioned that Nintendo is not ready to introduce their next gen console anytime soon until such times the Wii no longer improves games. There is the possibility of better graphics regarding Nintendo's five year cycle on technology far behind compared to Sony of Microsoft's products.

Of this Iwata said the following:

If we have an opportunity to make a new console, it will probably support HD because it is now common throughout the world. However, as far as the Wii is concerned, we have not found a significant reason to make it HD-compatible at this time. What is the significant meaning to the users? I don't think we should do it unless we find that reason. If we decide for other reasons to make new hardware, then HD is one of the things we would naturally add.

Whether if the next console will support better graphics, if Star Fox will not make an appearance in this Wii console there is still the possibility of reappearing in the next. With this I end you with confidence that popular games like Star Fox will never die out to the true fans who stay with it. Even though Miyamoto's strategy of targeting an audience is to promote them something they will like, hearing interviews with the creators from the past Star Fox games proves that Nintendo does listen to its fans. Hopefully in a few years from now, we will be in the cockpit of those Arwings once more and soar though the skies as mercenaries who we once new as the “Saviors of Lylat.”

Slippy Toad in the #1 Slot in ScrewAttack's Top Ten P.A.B.'s

A Hot debate is going on whether Slippy Toad should be in the #1 slot of the top ten P.A.B's on ScrewAttack.com. While others find it funny there are some fans who are simply upset that he would be considered as one. The debate is up to you and the community of Star Fox to opinionate your own choice on what yu righfull think about this review. That being said, in general it should be treated as a form of critique done by video gamers who have played pretty much every game out there in their video game vault.

Shadows of Lylat: "Trailer2: Ice" Released

6 years in the making, the crew of the widely anticipating Star Fox fan game, "Shadows of Lylat" has released their second official trailer. Code-named "Ice" this 1 minute featured trailer has the most up to date progress of the overall game. Project Director DaBrain reminded everyone that everything in this trailer will change and it is not the final production phase. An official release date is still unknown, but one thing for sure, Shadows of Lylat will be one of the long waited fan games to match up the Star fox 64 gaming experience we have been eagerly wanting in a Star Fox game. In Star Fox 64, Falco will make a smart remark calling Fox Einstien if he is shot by friendly fire. Even though Einstien does not live in the Star Fox universe, his name exists as an example of Falco's frustration with the team.

Map Ballad (Lylat)

"Map Ballad (Lylat)" is a slow, imposing, ballad-like piece used in Star Fox 64, Star Fox Adventures, and Star Fox Assault. The piece is rooted in an F Octave 8th, however does not stay in the key of F major, instead primarily using a series of accidentals on a C major key for the A melody, rotating into a slightly darker sounding B melody, comprised of the different voices. It was composed by Hajime Wakai.

Analysis

The intro of the piece begins on a Perfect 5th F-C, F on a bass instrument and C on a tenor instrument, and a repeating ostinato that plays throughout the piece shared between a soprano voice and a form of a snare drum. The F-C 5th, in the second measure, moves up 1-1/2 steps to a G#-D#. In the three measures that follow, the Perfect 5th falls back down onto the F-C 5th, holding on the fifth measure and releasing on Beat 3 of the sixth measure.

At this point, the leads, on the 5ths of an Alto instrument take over for another 6 measures, with an occasional answer from the Soprano voice on a variant of the Alto voice lead. This figure repeats once more, however it is rejoined by the F-C Perfect 5th from before. As the lead and the 5th figure cut out, the Soprano voice takes over a B figure dominated by 1 beat 8th-note triplets and a held figure, usually resolving on E, then F, then E, then High B, while the Alto voice simply holds 5ths. The Soprano voice is repeated again, this time adding on the upper 5th, making it another Perfect 5th melody akin to the opening of the piece. The piece then begins looping here.

Usage and Arrangements

Star Fox 64

In Star Fox 64, the piece was used as the primary map music and the background music for the opening background story scroll. This game is where the piece had the most use.

The actual piece was arranged on various synthesizers, similarly to the rest of the soundtrack. The Bass parts were on a string bass-sounding synthesizer. The Tenor voice was set to a cello-sounding synthesizer. The Soprano voice was set on a more synthesized instrument, deliberately sounding like a synthesizer. The Alto voice was placed on another synthesizer that sounded like a synthesizer. The snare drum was also synthesized. Arrangement was done directly by Hajime Wakai.

Star Fox Adventures

In Star Fox Adventures, since the soundtrack took a tribal-sounding turn, the piece was rearranged by David Wise to fit the bill. The ostinato was altered slightly to be centered around more 16th notes arranged in a tribal drum feel; tribal drums were also added in the intro to replace the ostinato. This trend in the piece held true throughout, as where the leads, now sounding like tribal horns in some sense, cut out, the ostinato would fill in the gaps left.

The piece also became slightly longer. Several measures of the altered ostinato pattern were added.

Star Fox Assault

In Star Fox Assault, the piece became used as a Briefing screen backing track. In around 6 of the missions with briefing screens, the piece was utilized.

Much like the rest of the soundtrack, the piece was performed by the Tokyo New City Orchestra. Unlike previous arrangements, however, each part was performed by various instruments of the orchestra, creating a fuller sound to the piece. It was conducted by Yoshie Arakawa.

James McCloud

James McCloud (formally known as Fox McCloud Sr.), was a legendary pilot of the Cornerian Army before the Lylat Wars. He was also the founder of the elite mercenary force Team Star Fox. During Star Fox's infancy, James McCloud was killed in action, leaving his son Fox McCloud to inherit what his father started.

Biography

Pre-Lylat Wars

Prior Lylat wars James McCloud met Vixy Reinard. They later on had a son, named Fox McCloud. However, she had died early on in Fox's life, so James was left to care for Fox by himself. Later on, he worked with his close friends Pigma Dengar and Peppy Hare to form the initial Star Fox Team.

Lylat Wars

James and the current Star Fox Team were dispatched by the Cornerian Army to the planet Venom to investigate. When they arrived, however, Pigma Dengar betrayed James and Peppy. He ended up capturing them for a large reward from Andross. While Peppy managed to escape, James was not so lucky, and was never heard from again. He was presumed to be killed.

However, after the new Team Star Fox lead by Fox and consisting of Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, and Slippy Toad had invaded Venom and after Fox had defeated Andross, he attempted to self-destruct the Venomian base in a last ditch effort to kill Fox. James, in an Arwing, lead Fox through the pathways with the flames burning up behind them. He disappeared once Fox made it out of the paths as well, much to Fox's dismay.

Aparoid Invasion

During the battle between Team Star Fox, the Aparoid Queen mimiced James several times to confuse Fox. However, this did not work, and Fox ended up defeating her.

Fox McCloud is a young pilot and lead member of a mercenary team, known as "Star Fox". The only son of the famous James McCloud, he followed in his fathers footsteps as an honorable pilot. He and his closest friends, Bill Grey and Slippy Toad, joined the academy in his youth, excelling at his flight training. Shortly later in his academy years, he encountered Falco Lombardi, a former gang member. Fox took him under his wing and turned him into a formidable pilot.

Biography

Pre-Lylat Wars

Five years after the Lylat System was at the brink of near extinction, James McCloud, Pigma Dengar, and Peppy Hare, who at the time formed the Star Fox Team, investigated the planet Venom after hearing suspicious activity. Pigma betrayed the team when James and Peppy found out that Andross was the source of the unusual activity. Peppy, who barely escaped Venom with his life, fled home to Corneria. Saddened by the death of his wingman, Peppy Hare informed Fox McCloud of his father's tragic death. Filled with grief, he dropped out from the academy to pursue the life of a mercenary, accompanied by Falco Lombardi and Slippy Toad and Peppy Hare, who reformed themselves as the new Star Fox Team.

The Lylat Wars

About three years later, General Pepper called in Star Fox Team when Andross launched an all out offensive on Lylat System in an attempt to overthrow the Cornerian Army and take over the system. Fox McCloud led his team through the onslaught of the war through routes all over the system, taking out Andross's Bio-Weapons and Lieutenants in Lylat's strongholds. In the midst of the battle, Fox encountered his old friend, Bill Grey, on Katina, which was under heavy fire by the Venomian Saucerer in an attempt to annihilate the Katina Outpost. His friendship was revealed, commenting, "Is that you? I can't believe it!" as Bill mentioned catching up on old times after their mission. Other allies came to help Fox, including a pink furred feline named Katt Monroe. Fox also had his share of foes with his encounter of an old rival, Wolf O'Donnell and his mercenary team, Star Wolf, who were hired by Andross to kill Star Fox. When Star Fox advanced through the enemy's armada, they reached the planet Venom, battling through the dangerous obstacles from wave of attacks to the harsh terrains. After their fight with Golemech and Star Fox's re-encounter with Star Wolf, it was Fox McCloud who dove into the depths of Venom's underground base to confront Andross. Through the ardouous battle, Andross was defeated, and Fox was barely left standing victorious before almost getting caved in from the self destruct of the base, barely escaping through the labyrinth shafts; Fox was convinced it was his father's presence that helped him escape.

The Saurian Incident

Eight Years after the Lylat Wars, the Star Fox Team stumbled upon the planet Sauria. In dire need of help to save the planet from being torn apart, mentioned by General Pepper, the maturer Fox McCloud disembarked from the cockpit of his Arwing onto the surface of what was know at the time as "Dinosaur Planet", where he encountered the Queen EarthWalker and Prince Tricky, a tag-along to help Fox restore and breath life back into the Spellstones and place back the Krazoa Spirits in their rightful places that help force the magic from tearing the planet apart from its core. He thwarted General Scales plan of making himself the domint power of Sauria. Along the way, Fox encountered a blue vixen named Krystal, who was also in need of the five remaining Krazoa Spirits to keep her alive imprisoned in a quartz crystal. After releasing the last Krazoa spirirt, Fox realized he was duped by helping revive Andross from the dead, which was his plan from the start, and wreaking havoc on the Lylat System once again. Falco (who, at the time, left Star Fox to go his own way) helped Fox take down Andross once again. With the reinstatement of Falco Lombardi and the addition of Krystal to the team, Star Fox used the money that Fox was paid for the improvements and repairs to the Great Fox and the Arwings.

The Aparoid Invasion

One year had passed after the Sauria incident with Andross. Star Fox went into battle with Andrew Oikionny's fleet outside the planet Fortuna. Their confrontation with Andrew was short lived when it was surprisingly interrupted by the attack of an enemy which only ROB/NUS 64 identifies as an "Aparoid" from Corneria's first encounter fifteen years ago. The Lylat System was threatened by the Aparoids, which were able to take over any entity of living or non-living material as its own host. Fox McCloud and his team were sent in to eradicate the threat, taking back one planet at a time, finding the last piece of the core memory from the boss Aparoid from Katina, and bring the invasion to an end. After halting their advance on the Cornerian Capital, Star Fox, Star Wolf and the Cornerian Army worked together in a joint assault on the Aparoid's home world. It was Fox who made the final blow and ended the Queen Aparoid's rein of sentience-controlling terror.

The Angular Directorate

A year after the events of the Aparoid invasion Fox McCloud and Krystal had affectionate feelings for one another and started to build a relationship with each other. However there relationship went shaky when Fox's feeling for her were more than he could bare to see her risking her life as a mercenary and broke up shortly after forcing Krystal off the team. Soonafter the exaustion and overwhling stress of the team was too much to bare and the rest of he Star Fox team went their sepreate ways, leaving Fox McCloud the only remaining member. It was untill war broke out when Corneria was under attack by the Anglars, Fox McCloud was sent in alone to handle the threat. Fox runs into some old friends along the way as he advances to each planet vanquishing the Anglar threat, untill he finally reached the planet Venom to defeat the Angular Emperor.

	The Landmaster is a ground assault tank used primarily by the Star Fox Team. The Star Fox Team are a group of mercenaries who were first led by James McCloud and his team mates, Pigma Dengar and Peppy Hare who are mostly hired by the Cornerian Army to aid them against ongoing threats the Lylat System. The current Star Fox Team members are James McCloud's son Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, the only Star Fox Veteran remaining and Slippy Toad, son of head Research Director, Beltino Toad.

The History of Star Fox

Pre- Lylat Wars

In a galaxy far beyond the reaches of space lies the system of Lylat. Corneria, the fourth planet in the Lylat system, was locked in a fierce battle with the mad scientist Andross, who was determined to turn the once thriving system into a wasteland of near extinction. Despite the turmoil caused by Andross' plans, Commander-in-Chief of the Cornerian Defence Force, General Pepper, was successful in defeating and banishing the mad scientist to the barren, deserted planet, Venom.

It was believed that the name "Andross" would never arouse feelings of terror again. His exile to the planet Venom was absolute, leaving him to waste away in the barren landscape which was unfit for any living thing. However, five years later General Pepper noticed strange activity coming from the planet, which baffled Cornerian scientists and demanded immediate investigation.

With the Cornerian Defence Force occupied with patrolling and securing the peace throughout Lylat, Pepper called in James McCloud, ex-member of the Cornerian Defence Force's ace fighter pilot squadron who now served as the lead pilot and founder of the mercenary group known as Star Fox. James' team consisted of his lifelong friend, Peppy Hare, and Pigma Dengar. Upon their arrival, James's trusted friend Pigma defected and turned over James and Peppy to Andross. However, Peppy and James were able to fight their way out of Andross' clutches. Unfortunately, only one pilot would return - James would sacrifice himself to allow Peppy the chance to escape.

Peppy, now the last remaining member of Star Fox, managed to flee back towards his homeworld. On top of the grief caused by losing his dear friend and partner, Peppy was also obliged to inform James' only son, Fox, about his father's fate. Without a leader, the Star Fox team would have to disband, leaving no hope against Andross' ever-growing army, which had already overwhelmed the Cornerian forces. However, out of the ashes of the former Star Fox team, a new band of mercenaries would arise to reclaim the lost name and honor of "Star Fox." The new Star Fox team was lead by Fox McCloud, who was aided by his friends Peppy Hare, Falco Lombardi, and Slippy Toad. General Pepper immediately dispatched this new team in order to deal a preemptive blow to Andross' forces.

The Lylat Wars

A few years have passed since Andross first began his assault on the Lylat System. With Corneria's army dwindling, General Pepper realized that Corneria would be unable to win the war without outside assistance. Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy of the new Star Fox team were called in to save Corneria, and free the Lylat system from Andross, just as Fox's father had done years ago.

Through many battles with Andross' forces and bioweapons which were scattered throughout Lylat, The Star Fox team made it to Andross' stronghold, Venom. Seeking for revenge over his father's death, Fox went in alone to fight Andross in a hair trigger standoff in Venom's deep base. Only a hair away from being killed, Fox managed to kill Andross, and the Lylat wars ended.

The Saurian Incident

After being saviors of Lylat after the defeat of Andross, the war was subsided leaving the Cornerian army to do the rest of the mop up work. Eight years Star Fox was left on the side lines doing endless patrols across the Lylat system barley making the wages to support themselves by Corneria's funding. The team began to fall apart after loosing Falco Lombardi not knowing where or what he was doing, leaving the team to go through their separate ways doing whatever to keep the management of their Great Fox, Fox's father's attack carrier afloat with no real money to keep the ship in full running condition was hard to come by.

By coincidence the team found their way at a dying planet known as Sauria or by most people "Dinosaur Planet," a planet in existence that thrives various races of dinosaurs. Getting a surprise message by General Pepper they were offered a mission to save the planet from further destruction to prevent a cataclismic threat to the surrounding planets within reach of the Lylat system. Having no objections seeing this was their only shot getting back on their feet, Fox McCloud was sent to the planet for further instructions.

After saving Prince Tricky, son of a leader of a vast race of dinosaurs called "Earth Walkers", he and Fox teamed up to bring the planet together which was constantly being torn apart by magic. Fox knew the only way to save the planet was to gather the Krazoa Spirits and take them to the Krazoa Palace, where encountered a female vixen, Krystal who was imprisoned in (ironically enough) a giant crystal. Who was also in need of the Krazoa Spirits to stay alive so long as Fox continued the mission.

What caused the Krazoa Spirits to protect the flow of magic was the missing of four SpellStones which were supposed to hold the magic from destroying the planet, were taken and scattered to different parts of the broken up planet. This act of chaos was General Scales, a pirate leader of a group of dinosaur warriors who were known to create terror and fear which they'd use to keep the Saurian planet under their control.

Eventually through the obstacles, and mileage, Fox McCloud managed to put the Spell Stones together and gathered all the spirits of the Krazoa releasing Krystal. When all was thought to be over the Krazoa spirits were being used to revive Andross using Krystal who was forced against her will to channel that power bringing him back to life. Eventually Fox was able to destroy Andross with the help from the return of Falco.

With the return of Falco Lombardi, and the addition of their new member, Krystal, the only survivor of her planet Cerinia, a new Star Fox Team was born.

The Aparoid Invasion

One years passed after the Star Fox team had its deal with the Saurian incident with Andross behind the plot being quickly dealt with shortly after. The team brought with them another person, Krystal, the only surviving female vixen of her home world Cerinia. With having nowhere else to run and being severely shortened out of ways to support herself, she joined Star Fox and learned to fly an Arwing, Corneria's best made fighter in the Lylat system.

However the Lylat System was short of its peace between their enemies as Andrew Oikonny, former member of Team Star Wolf, inherited his uncle Andross' army after the Lylat Wars nine years ago. Using his inheritance, he had advanced an attack on Fortuna, a once close stronghold controlled by the Cornerian army. With Corneria's army struggling to regaining control of the planet from a fierce space battle, Star Fox was sent into the fray to take down Andrew and rid of the once powerful Venomian Army once and for all. However, when all seemed won with the defeat of Andrew on the Fortuna's surface, a new threat appeared, something that the Lylat System was completely unprepared for: the Aparoids, which had though would never had to be spoken about again ten years from its last appearance, had returned, this time they had come in a swarm. Their ultimate goal was to infect the Lylat System.

With Star Fox knowing full well what they must do, their only hope was to find their homeworld and destroy the Aparoid Queen with the Core Memory they found on the planet Katina; Pigma had unfortunately stolen it from them under pretenses it was worth money. Eventually, after traveling across the system and encountering Star Wolf, Star Fox was able to retrieve the Core Memory. But all was too late; the damage had already made it Corneria, with General Pepper injured from being the host of an Aparoid. Their only civic duty left was to make it to the home world by going through the Zyhper Gate and deliver the core memory in the queen which would render her and the rest of her army to self destruct with exploitation of the cellular weakness Apoptosis.

After the struggle getting through the Aparoids heavily guarded base and the loss of Star Fox's Great Fox, they had finally encountered the Aparoid Queen and destroyed her. With the termination of the Aparoid menace, the system begun its road to recovery once again.

The Angualar Directorate

A few years after the Aparoid invasion, the Star Fox team went their separate ways, Peppy Hare, the last veteran of the first Star Fox team took under privilege as the new General for the Cornerian army to replace General Pepper who had been bedridden after nearly being a host of the Aparoids. Slippy Toad went back into Research and development and had fallen in love with a female wart, named Amanda. After a long absence of work, Falco Lombardi once again vanished without being heard by anyone as a lone mercenary. Lastly Krystal who had been at Fox's side had shown her love with her leader, Fox replied with the same amount of love they had with each other, however, Fox's relationship with Krystal drove him off the edge and was worried that if something were to happen to the one he loved he may never recover. Fox disbands Krystal from the team. Fox now alone is the only one left of the Star Fox team.

A new war arises from the toxic planet Venom, which had never been set foot on after the Lylat Wars. A force known as the Angulars, rose from their toxicity waters and began an invasion with the Cornerian forces.

Originally known as the "Asteroid Belt," Meteo is speculated to be all that remains of the fifth planet of the Lylat System. It now serves as an asteroid field in orbit of Corneria. The asteroid field is so dense and vast that Cornerian scientists have not yet been able to explore its depths due its dangerous path. Lylatian populace would have to take an alternative route around the feild, which serves as protection from Venomian forces imposing a direct attack on the Capital planet. A teams of scientists are dedicating in researching more about the Meteo regions from its source for Minerals from the once planet. Meteo also lies fairly close to the Sector Y region and contains the Sargasso Space Region.

History

The Lylat Wars

On pursuit to other planetary systems within the Lylat System, Star Fox cut through the Meteo field on their way to Fichina when they encountered the "Meteo Crusher". Star Fox was able to defeat the Venomian Lieutenant and went en-route to Fichina to recover the Cornerian base.

The Aparoid Invasion

Team Star Fox traced Pigma's signal from Meteo when attempting to retrieve the last remaining core extracted from the Aparoid boss on Katina. In sight of Pigma after chasing him through an abandoned space pirate hideout, his life was taken away by the aparoids infusing him as a host. Star Fox destroyed the Aparoid infused with Pigma and retrieved the remaining core and advanced onward to Sauria.

The Angular Directorate

The home-front of Corneria, Star Fox had begun one of their last batles against the agulars on the Meteo region. Krystal left Star Wolf to aid Star Fox for the final onslaught of the war.

Fichina is the ice planet of the Lylat System, located in the Parlak Sector. Comprised of very little vegetation, the world is stuck in an eternal Ice Age and with strong blizzards. Cornerian scientists are able to control the blizzards through a construct called the Climate Control Center, however the planet can relapse into blizzards should the CCC remain inactive for a certain amount of time. Prolonged peroids without weather control can render the planet uninhabitable.

History

Lylat Wars

The Cornerian Defense Force, at the time of the Lylat Wars, had set up an outpost on the planet surface. Teams of scientists worked to attempt to terraform the planet, making it habitable, possibly as a world similar to Corneria.

However, the base fell victim to a drone fleet from the Venomian Army. The base was quickly overrun by the drones. A bomb was subsequently placed in the facility, awaiting detonation. This action would remove the chance of the Cornerians making the planet habitable.

Team Star Fox, en route from the Meteo Asteroid Field encircling Corneria, launched a counterattack on the base. The drones immediately scrambled from the base; the team quickly dispatched them. Putting a wrench into their plans, ROB/NUS-64 detected the bomb inside the base. Before Star Fox could dispatch anyone to deal with it, Team Star Wolf entered the fray, making an attempt to distract Star Fox long enough to give the bomb time to detonate. Their efforts proved futile, as the entire opposing team was shot down. Fox McCloud them immediately flew into the base and deactivated the bomb, saving the outpost.

Aparoid Invasion

At the time of the Aparoid Invasion, the research done as to how to control the weather of the planet had come to fruition. A Climate Control Center had been established, providing a way to artificially manipulate the planet's weather patterns. This in turn provided a way for the planet to become inhabitable.

Team Star Fox tracked Pigma Dengar, who had recently absconded with an Aparoid Core Memory, to Fichina per advice from Panther Caroso in a failed attempt to flirt with Krystal. Upon arriving at the planet, a crisis had come about: the CCC was offline, providing a chance for blizzards to reclaim the planet. In an attempt to restore the CCC, Fox went down to the surface on foot. While scouting, ROB read that the CCC was shielded and could not be entered, forcing more drastic measures to be taken. With the aid of a Landmaster and RADAR, Fox, while under heavy attack from pockets of Aparoids, destroyed the three power supplies to the shield generators. He then entered the base and reactivated the center, stopping the blizzard. However, he subsequently came under attack from Sentry Bots. Falco Lombardi soon came to his rescue, using one of his wings on his Arwing to carve a swath through a horde of Sentry Bots. Fox then came aboard the wing and defended Falco with a Plasma Cannon as he traveled Fichina's skies, waiting for an Arwing transfer.

Slippy scanned the Sentry Bots inside the base and found Aparoid readings, which meant that the Sentry Bots were being influenced by the Aparoids. At this time, Pigma revealed himself, activating an infected piece of the CCC's core to form an extremely large Aparoid, proving the entire facility was infected by the Aparoids. The CCC soon went into Core Overload. Fearing a cataclysmic explosion that would render the planet uninhabitable permanently, Team Star Fox immediately went on the offensive, attacking the Aparoid. Fox immediately began launching Smart Bombs into the "mouth" of the Aparoid, destroying it from the inside. The Aparoid soon was destroyed and the Climate Control Center was saved. The team soon headed out to the Meteo Asteroid Field outside Sector Y.

Anglar Directorate

(Note that Star Fox Command plays by player choice, not by a set storyline. No official story path or ending has been confirmed by Nintendo, so in an effort to provide comprehensive coverage, all elements of all paths including this location have been included.)

Path 1 (coming from Reunion with Slippy): After rejoining with Slippy Toad, Fox McCloud traveled to Fichina in an attempt to contact Lucy Hare, Peppy Hare's daughter, who was an astrophysicist teacher. Fox and Slippy had previously intercepted a message from her about an invasion of the planet and had gone to help. Upon their arrival, the pair was attacked by Team Star Wolf, thinking they were after the bounty on their heads. The pair quickly beat them and let them leave. Lucy soon after contacted the pair. After Slippy assured that Peppy Hare, who was under attack on Corneria, would be alright, she told the two that Andrew Oikonny was leading the assault. Denying the chance that Slippy offered to gather intelligence with his father, Fox received a transmission from Oikonny, where he boasted about his involvement with the Anglar. Fox and Slippy, with help from Lucy, then made a move on Oikonny, where he then showed his attack vehicle, the Death Crab. At the conclusion of a lengthy battle, Oikonny was defeated.

Once the invasion was repelled, Lucy had a conversation with Fox about his history with Krystal. She was able to get Fox to admit to his past wrongs before she headed out to Corneria to help Peppy in Corneria's defense. Fox was then posed with a decision to go with her to Corneria or go to Aquas to deter an invasion there.

Path 2 (coming from Decision Time): Instead of going to meet with Falco Lombardi, Fox decided to meet with Wolf O'Donnell to gain his assistance in fighting the Anglar forces. Initially, Wolf had no interest in working with Fox and instead decided to attack him with the rest of Team Star Wolf as backup. Fox dispatched all three of them and talked with Wolf directly. Although Wolf seemed reluctant to work with Fox, he accepted on the grounds that he "had no other offers" and that he would get paid. Fox then took Wolf with him to meet Falco over Solar.

Controversy

Fichina's appearance in Star Fox 64 is confirmed. However, in the game, the planet was misnamed as "Fortuna." In official canon, the ice planet is named Fichina, whereas Fortuna is a lush forested world. The controversy was created from a mistranslation from Japanese text to English text. The mistranslation was corrected in Star Fox Assault several years later.
